do you remember where you were the first time you ever heard the brooding synthesizer snaps of lorde’s “royals” on the radio? or how many times you heard the same imagine dragons song in one tv ad block in 2012?

i was commissioned by a friend of mine to make a cover image for a special limited series of their podcast, all about the #1 hits on the billboard alternative music charts of the 2000s. this image was used across their twitter and patreon pages, and features nods to the greats of that era of music. the design and color scheme was greatly inspired by my personal favorite album of the bunch, phoenix’s “wolfgang amadeus phoenix.”
